New York Colombian Film Festival

The Colombian Film Festival will take place at Tribeca Cinemas from March 20th until March 24th, 2013. The first annual festival program will consist of feature films, documentaries, shorts, forums, US and World Premieres and press conferences.

 

Juan Carvajal, director of the Colombian Film Festival, said “this is an unbelievable opportunity to feature the best of Colombia’s cinema at the Big Apple; this is a turning point for Colombian filmmaking to showcase”.

 

The Colombian Consulate of New York City proudly sponsors the Colombian Film Festival. The Colombian Film Festival is pleased to have talent including actors, producers and directors from the featured films participating at the event presenting their films as well as forums, press conferences and opening night festivities.

180 Segundos (2012) dir. Alexander Giraldo

The life of an established criminal crosses paths with nine other people in the 180 seconds needed to complete his last job before leaving the country for a new life.  Behind the master plan comes unexpected surprises: a long lost love, a special unit of the police and a soccer match that has the entire city’s attention. 180 Seconds will show the best and the worst in these human beings.

U.S. Premiere- Lo Azul del Cielo (2013)  dir. Juan Alfredo Uribe

After serving in the army, Camilo returns home eager to make a new life for himself. His relationship with his family is a source of constant conflict, and finally they give him an ultimatum: find a job or move out.  In a fateful decision, he accept a job  involving himself in an uncomfortable, not to mention illegal, situation. When Camilo falls in love,  he forges a new identity for himself until someone returns from his past threatening to untangle Camilo's web of lies and reveal his true identity.


Pablo’s Hippos (2010)  dir. Antonio Von Hildebrand

Pablo’s Hippos recounts the absurd and paradoxical history of Colombia’s thirty-year struggle with international drug trafficking, at once a farce and a tragedy, as seen through the eyes of the extravagant pet of the most powerful drug baron in history: a hippopotamus named Pablo.
