Program Notes

Arguably the greatest American playwright of the twentieth century, Tennessee Williams left four un-produced screenplays behind after his death in 1983, including the bittersweet THE LOSS OF A TEARDROP DIAMOND. Actress-turned-director Jodie Markell brings Williams' unrealized vision to full life in this new film starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Evans, Ann-Margret, Ellen Burstyn and Mamie Gummer. In the tradition of Williams heroines Laura Wingfield and Blanche DuBois, Fisher Willow (Howard), an impulsive, wistful heiress, falls in love with righteous, "simple" Jimmy Dobyne (Evans) after hiring him as an escort to Memphis debutante parties. The loss of a priceless earring, however, stirs unforeseen emotions in this handsomely photographed drama.

Expected to be in attendance:  Director Jodie Markell and Star Bryce Dallas Howard
