Program Notes

On Lake Natron in Northern Tanzania, an island of salt emerges from the water as if by magic. It is here that throngs of crimson-winged flamingos will flock each year to nest and nurture their young hatchlings. Set against the lush and dramatic colors of the African landscape, these elegant birds struggle against the threats of predators and environment to ensure that the next generation makes it back to the salt shore for another season. A gorgeous and moving nature documentary in the spirit of MARCH OF THE PENGUINS, THE CRIMSON WING is a touching tale for the whole family.
