Program Notes

"Is it possible to be a white man and African?" MUGABE follows the story of Mike Campbell who, in 2008, took the government of Zimbabwe and President Robert Mugabe to international court in 2008 for violation of human rights in an effort to preserve his farm amid state-sanctioned "Land Reform" initiatives tantamount to the ethnic cleansing of whites. In a rare feat of daring filmmaking, directors Lucy Bailey and Andrew Thompson have crafted a tribute to the incredible courage and perseverance of Campbell and his family’s fight against the injustices and violent reign of dictator Mugabe without ever losing sight of the case’s paradoxical political and racial implications. A must-see film.

Expected to be in attendance:  Director Andrew Thompson
