Program Notes

"The world is a bad place." So says Raakel, an eighteen year-old girl raised in a strict branch of Lutheranism that eschews contact with mainstream society. But when her best friend Maria leaves their cloistered community to experience life in the city, Raakel follows, ostensibly to protect Maria from the predations of "The Archfiend" and, hopefully, bring her back to the fold. Gradually, both Raakel and Maria begin to explore their new surroundings, attempting to reconcile their deep faith with the temptations of their new home, and both of them change in unexpected ways in this quiet, affecting drama.
