Edie & Thea: A Very Long Engagement

World Cinema

2009 | 61 min | Feature Documentary

Directed by: Susan Muska and Greta Olafsdottir

East Coast Premiere

Program Notes

Hamptons residents Edie Windsor and Thea Sryer share a fairy tale romance. They fell in love at first sight in the West Village nearly fifty years ago, and their passion for each other would endure for decades. Yet closeted life was the norm for gays and lesbians in the 1960s, and in spite of their open love and commitment, Edie and Thea’s dream to be legally married would have to wait a long, long time. EDIE AND THEA: A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT is a wonderfully poignant and intimate portrait of an incredible couple and the wait they endured for their entire adult lives to legalize their union.

Expected to be in attendance:  Directors Susan Muska and Greta Olafsdottir, and subject Edie Windsor.
